Part of our uniqueness stems from our namesake mountain, Mount Difficulty, under which a particular microclimate can be found. This area is at the southern end of the Cromwell Basin, has a narrow range of heat stimulation, large diurnal shifts, and long, cool, dry Autumns. It is because of this our wines show a reflection of place.

The colourful story of Roaring Meg comes from Central Otago's pioneering past. Discovery of gold in the 1860's attracted many young men to Central Otago in search of fortune and a number of enterprising young women equally keen to share in the spoils. Meg, one such high spirited lady, made such a fuss while being carried over a rapid, it was named after her.
